The ‘CMP18’ proposes to review the latest scientific and technological advances in the field of “Corrosion and corrosion protection by inhibitors and surface coatings”.

This will highlight the research topics and priorities on which future development should focus our efforts.

We hope that during the colloquium, academics and industrials present and discuss recent scientific issues and developments in the fields cited above and which are oriented towards industrial applications. CMP18 aims are also to establish and strengthen trust, in order to develop collaborative activities between researchers and industrials.

Director of Research Emerit at the “Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique” (CNRS) in the “Laboratoire Interfaces et Systèmes Electrochimiques” (LISE) at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris. In 1973, after his graduation from the “Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité”, Bernard Tribollet joined the laboratory of I. Epelboin where he prepared a PhD under his supervision. In 1977 he held a CNRS position as “Assistant de Recherche” in the same laboratory, and he received his PhD in Physical Sciences in 1978. In 1981, with the support of a NSF fellowship, he spent one year as visiting scientist at the University of California, Berkeley under the supervision of Prof. John Newman. Tribollet has over 280 refereed publications and he has presented more than 50 invited talks in international conferences. During the first twenty years of his career, he worked in collaboration with Claude Deslouis on electro-diffusion flow diagnostics and mass transport in electrochemical systems. He generalized the electrochemical impedance to other perturbations, such as the rotation speed of a rotating disk electrode (EHD impedance), magnetic field (MHD impedance), and temperature (thermal impedance). He applied Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy to different problems concerning mass transport, conducting polymers, electrodissolution, and corrosion by developing models with clear physical meaning. In the last few years, he has collaborated with many groups in different countries, in particular with Prof. Mark Orazem (USA), Prof. Oscar Mattos (Brazil), Dr. Marco Musiani (Italy). Bernard Tribollet serves on the ECS Editorial Advisory Committee, he is Fellow of the Elecrochemical Society, he was the Chairman of the 2010 Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry in Nice, and he was Treasurer of ISE (2011-2017). Since 1989 he has delivered an annual short course on Impedance Spectroscopy at the University Paris 6. He co-authored, with Prof. Mark Orazem of the University of Florida, a textbook on impedance spectroscopy published as part of the Electrochemical Society Series (Wiley) in 2008 for the first edition and 2017 for the second edition.

Pierangela Cristiani (University degree in Biology), has more than twenty years experiences, (researches, projects and teaching) in microbial corrosion, biofouling prevention, sanitization and biological risk assessment in industry. She is Project leader at RSE – Ricercasul Sistema Energetico S.p.A., a total publicly-controlled Italian Research Company for Energy fields. Since September 2013, she is chairing the WP10 (Microbial Corrosion) of the European Federation of Corrosion. The development of microbial fuel cells and bio-electrochemical systems of energy interest are other research lines driven since 2008. Her research activities are conducted in collaboration with several universities, advising PhD students and Master Theses, and in the framework of European projects. Marc Jeannin started his PhD in Physical Sciences in 1991 at « Laboratoire de Spectrométrie Physique » from Grenoble University. He worked on “molecular recognition in paramagnetic ionic solution by nuclear relaxation” and on diffusion measurements by NMR in solid polymer. He joined La Rochelle University in 1995 in the corrosion laboratory LaSIE. He started his research in marine corrosion and cathodic protection in collaboration with Bernard Tribollet and Claude Deslouis from the LISE - Paris.With Pr. Philippe Refait, he became a specialist in the rust layer analysis by micro-Raman spectroscopy and XRD. He defended its accreditation to supervise research (HDR) in 2010 on the “oxidation process of iron”. He is also a project leader of ANR project (1M€) on the formation of calcareous agglomerate (Ecocorail) by cathodic protection as a solution against coastal erosion and depollution in collaboration with 4 groups in Caen University, New Caledonia University in the pacific and the company Géocorail SAS. He developed also collaborations with University of Tunis El-Manar, University of Béjaia in Algeria and University of Johannesburg in South Africa, advising several PhDs. As expert in Raman spectroscopy, he worked for many companies as Arcelor Mital, Michelin, Naval Group, … He is co-author of more than 60-refereed publications and 3 book-chapters.

Head of research and innovation at EPF – Graduate School of engineering (Sceaux, France). “Agrégé” of Chemistry of the EcoleNormaleSupérieureParis-Saclay (1993), Olivier Horner joined the laboratory of Pr. O. Kahn(Université Paris-Sud) and Dr. A.W. Rutherford (CEA-Saclay) where he prepared a PhD in inorganic chemistry on artificial photosynthesisunder the supervision of Pr. J. J. Girerd and Dr. A. W. Rutherford (1998). He was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University (1998-1999), and then got a position of assistant Professor in bio-inorganic chemistry at CEA / Grenoble Alpes University for five years. He was accredited to supervise research (HDR) in 2005. Olivier Horner spent 8 years as researcher at EDF Lab (Chatou, France) in the field of corrosion, environmental chemistry and microbiology. He then got a CR1 researcher position at CNRS in the field of functionalized nanoparticles (2007). Olivier Horner performs his research in the laboratory LISE (UMR CNRS 8235) at the University Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC).He has over 43 refereed publications Keywords: calco-carbonate deposits, green scale inhibitors, SAXS, controlled rapid precipitation, quartz microbalance (QCM).

Hubert PERROT (54 years old) is a Senior Researcher (DR1 du CNRS) in the LISE laboratory located at University P. and M. Curie in Paris (Sorbonne University). He has received his Engineering degree from the ESCIL (1986, Lyon School of Industrial Chemistry), his DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies) in Analytical Chemistry (1986, University of Lyon) and his Doctorate in 1990, Centrale Lyon. He holds a HDR (Habilitation), from University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris VI) since 2001. His research interests include electrochemical and electrogravimetric characterization of insertion materials, kinetics of electrochemical reactions, electroacoustic transducers i.e. microbalance equipments, chemical sensors and biosensors. He has authored 191 papers in international peer reviewed journals (total citation: 3746, h-index: 35), 15 book chapters and 5 patents. He has been the coordinator of several ANR projects ANR PRECODD «HAB SEACHIP» (2006-2009) and ANR Blanche «MéconPhry» (2011-2014). Now, Hubert Perrot is the president of the subdivision électrochimie of the SociétéChimique de France (SCF).

Director of corrosion research laboratory of Duzce University. Husnu Gerengi joined to the corrosion research group of Department of Electrochemistry Corrosion and Materials Engineering at Gdansk University of Technology in his PhD studies. He has more than 40 articles in high ranking SCI journals and these articles were cited in several journals more than 650 times. He is the representative of Turkey in The International Corrosion Council (ICC). He is a specialist on corrosion measurement techniques and corrosion inhibitors. He used Dynamic Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (DEIS) method in corrosion inhibitor studies for the first time. Thus, determining the electrochemical changes that occur over time by adding an inhibitor to the corrosion cell was demonstrated. This method makes it possible to determine how, how long, and to what level the corrosion inhibitor used in the corrosion cell is effective. He has 8 patents on boronium doped corrosion preventive inhibitors. His research activities are conducted in collaboration with national and international universities, advising PhD students and Master Theses.
